Jazz in the Afternoon

The Tracey Mendham Quartet Tracey has a big, strong sound in the tradition of Dexter Gordon, Hank Mobley and Sonny Rollins. She also writes some catchy tunes and comes recommended by Alan Barnes and Willie and Alex Garnett. ‘Tracey handles all the feels and tempos from the slow ballads to the steamers with assurance and aplomb and is completely at home on fast Latin rhythms. Her originals are genuinely catchy – something which used to be demanded of jazz tunes.
